My Growing Place
Our Mission
My Growing Place is a community service ministry of First UnitedMethodist Church Lufkin. We proved a warm, caring, Christian environment rich with developmentally appropriate learning experiences. Our program is open to all persons regardless of race, color, or religious preference. Our program is designed to accommodate the needs of the individual child as he or she learns. Our classes are intentionally small to provide each child with plenty of love and attention. We believe that every child is a precious gift form God and will grow, develop, and learn at his or her own pace. Children are placed in classes according to their age by September 1 of each year and are promoted once a year.
What We OfferThe ClassroomOur current curriculum is the Academic Balanced Literacy Program in conjunction with our Christian curriculum. In the classroom, children are encouraged to learn through dramatic play, music and art activities. Academic skills are taught and reinforced through a variety of reading and language skill builders. Math skills are developed by experience with manipulatives and open-ended center activities, such as blocks, water play and sand play. Our science centers include plants and animals, encouraging the child to "worship through wonder." |

Making the ChoiceWe hope that you will choose to pursue childcare at My Growing Place. We offer a variety of options for your convenience and satisfaction. We are happy to work with you and accommodate your child's needs as much as possible. Please feel free to call or contact our office anytime. Price list, current calendar, and classroom availability are available upon request. MGP is a Child Care Services (CCS) vendor. |
SpanishThree and four year old classes have Spanish during classes at least once a week. The teacher instructs the students on the basics such as numbers, colors, etc. Music and Motor DevelopmentAges toddler and up attend music motor development class each day. The children sing, play instruments, and practice motor development skills through dancing and active games. Also, all ages visit the playground daily. It is fenced, gated, and divided into two age-appropriate areas, which accommodate all ages and provide a variety of physically stimulating activities. |
